Experience Wonder in Your Own Backyard. With gorgeous sunny skies and summer vacation just around the corner, we know finding a way to experience new things (without having to travel far and wide) is something special. Luckily, there are incredible experiences right here in Southwest Florida. Experiences that many in the area don’t even know exist…

1. Cape Coral

Fishing, wildlife, and snorkeling. These are the adventures that lie ahead in “the Cape.” While most places can offer these activities in Southwest Florida, Cape Coral has a unique ability to bring you some of the most beautiful and entertaining opportunities. The outer barrier islands offer crystal clear waters and a fantastic place to head out and go snorkeling. Make sure to keep an eye out for the Sanibel Lighthouse, located on the east side of Sanibel Island. This piece of history was constructed in 1884 and can be seen with the perfect lighting from the waters of Cape Coral.

2. Sarasota

This beautiful town lies just 30 nautical miles south of St. Petersburg and offers a wide range of outdoor activities. The entire coastal area can be explored by hiking the trails that show off the Bay and estuaries. For those looking for a longer experience, Sarasota also offers a four-day backpacking loop through the Myakka River State Park, which will show off everything inland. Not a big hiker? Don’t worry, Sarasota also offers amazing water runs to go out in your kayak or canoe and explore!

3. Naples

Known as the “crown jewel” of Southwest Florida, Naples is your #1 destination for a front row seat to the everglades. Paradise Coast Blueway is a 73-mile system of paddle trails right through the Everglades. Get ready to experience nature in a way like no other! Along your journey, you will find up-close encounters with birds, manatees, fish, and even dolphins. Choose between a few short-day trips or a long journey and get moving!

4. Dry Tortugas

This national park finds its home 70 miles west of Key West in a beautiful remote location. Accessible only by private boat or seaplane, Dry Tortugas is the site of the famous Fort Jefferson. Upon arrival, you will find an array of outdoor activities as well as a museum, which offers hands-on activities to make it fun for the entire family! The best part of all, the museum admission is free!
