Great American Roadways You Need to Travel: Part 1

There’s nothing quite like riding the open road. Whether it’s by motorcycle, car, or RV, getting out and experience all of the beautiful scenery that the US has to offer should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list. And while all roadtrips have their moments, there are some that stand out more than others. Keep reading to see our first installment of American Roadways that you need to travel to experience.

1. Blue Ridge Parkway | Virginia and North Carolina

At 469 miles across 29 counties in Virginia and North Carolina, Blue Ridge Parkway is America’s longest linear park. The parkway is well-known for its beautiful natural scenery, as it spans along the Blue Ridge, a major mountain chain in the Appalachian Mountains. Nature and adventure lovers alike will be delighted by the constantly changing landscapes and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

2. Cades Cove Drive | Tennessee

If you’re looking to get some up-close wildlife sightings in your travels, this is the roadway for you. Cades Cove Drive is the definition of taking the longer scenic route, guiding you around an eleven-mile loop through Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. Driving at 10mph through the one-lane road, this laidback trail is meant to optimize wildlife sightings. You’re sure to spot a free-roaming bear or deer somewhere!

3. Kancamagus Highway

You won’t find a better road to travel during the Fall season. Leaf enthusiasts are drawn to the area annually for its beautiful fall foliage. Tucked away in the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire, the 34.5 miles of Kancamagus Highway are surrounded by Northeast forestry at its finest. Be prepared to make plenty of stops to experience the myriad of waterfalls and the brook at the base of Sabbaday Falls.

4. U.S. 1

From Key Largo to Key West, you can experience all of the beauty that the Florida Keys has to offer on this 120-mile long island chain. You’ll be in an oversea highway paradise of lighthouses, underwater coral reef parks, and plenty of beach bars to stop in for a drink and some local culture. Also, this roadway features the famous 7 Mile Bridge, one of the longest bridges in the world.

5. San Juan Skyway

This 233-mile loop through the San Juan Mountains in Southwest Colorado takes an estimated seven hours to complete and is worth every moment. You’ll feel as if you’ve traveled into another world as you pass incredible scenic vistas, waterfalls, magical landscapes, and peaks that reach up to 14,000 feet. The Million Dollar Highway is the skyway’s most rewarding and challenge stretch. Taking you on a thrilling 25-mile passageway through the Uncompahgre Gorge.
